Limassol. Part 1

Our life featured less Limassol than Larnaca where we lived for as many as 18 months. We stayed in Limassol when Helen was pregnant. We visited the city again with our children, but didn’t spend much time there. With all the time we spent there, we realized that Limassol is perhaps the most comfortable Cypriot city to live in. It has a well-developed infrastructure: myriads of shops offering a wide range of goods, a lot of resort areas and great beaches, high-quality service. Limassol is the second largest city on the island in terms of population. It’s a resort city that, [...]

Larnaca. Part 3

Our Beach Time There were days when we didn't explore any spots around, just relaxed on the beach. Larnaca beaches can’t be compared to those in Ayia Napa and Protaras, but they seem to have been created specifically for kids. The sea bed is quite shallow and sandy, and the water is very clean. Like everywhere in Cyprus, there is neither seaweed nor jellyfish. Tourists usually prefer central beaches or the beaches near fashionable hotels, but we managed to find great uncrowded well-arranged beaches. We frequently drove to the English Dhekelia Base that still belongs to the UK. There are a [...]

Transportation The car that we rented sometimes turned into a comfortable bench for our children. We learned from our own experience that a lack of pedestrian streets and quality pavements is a scourge of Cyprus in general, not only Larnaca. Local citizens go everywhere by their own cars, while tourists have no other choice than to use a rented car, taxi, or bus, and they use them more for moving around the island rather than within a city. The Cypriots even say that if you see a walking person, it’s undoubtedly a foreigner. The Cypriots go by car even [...]

Larnaca. Part 1

2018-10-16T02:11:59+00:00

A seaside city called Larnaca has become special to us. We spent as many as 18 months here without actually intending to. It’s extremely long for us, as we are travellers and are not used to staying in one place for more than 1-2 months. It was a house in the village of Oroklini, near Larnaca, that we brought our babies to, when the twins were finally discharged from hospital in Nicosia. We’ve already told you about the beginning of our life in Cyprus, how our boys had to come to the world two months earlier due to pregnancy complications. When [...]
